Like most beauty-obsessed people, I am constantly on a quest to find the perfect fill in the blank. Over the past few years, I have been on the hunt for the perfect daytime moisturizer and despite finding a few that I really liked, I realized I always come back to one: Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel.
I used to assume that because I am so oily, moisturizer wasn’t a necessity for me. When I realized this wasn’t the case, I purchased the Clinique gel moisturizer on recommendation from a friend and used it faithfully for a little over four years.
When I started reading xoVain, I started to think maybe I needed to broaden my horizons a bit. DDMG had always worked for me, but I began to think I was maybe missing out on something better.
Over the course of the last couple of years, I’ve tried and liked a handful of different moisturizers, and although I’d use them all completely, I always found myself going back to DDMG. I’m finally realizing that I don’t need to keep searching for the perfect moisturizer because I already found it years ago!
Here’s what I love about it.
The Texture is Amazing
My biggest issues with most moisturizers is that they feel too heavy on my face and often don’t sink well into my oily skin. This gel cream is very lightweight and so silky. It manages to strike the perfect balance between being really hydrating but thin enough to really sink into my face.
A Little Product Goes a Long Way
I love when I can really stretch a product out, and this is one that really lasts me for a long time. I can use two pumps in the summer and three pumps in the winter and feel well-moisturized. Since I can use so little at a time, a 4.2-oz bottle will usually last me close to a year. That it lasts me so long makes the price even more appealing to me because $26 for about a year of use is excellent!
It Makes My Skin Feel Super-Smooth
I don’t always use a makeup primer before I apply foundation, so it’s important to me that my moisturizer preps my skin well enough on its own. I think this moisturizer does an excellent job of smoothing and plumping my skin so that my makeup glides on smoothly and stays on even when I don’t have a primer.
I’m a little ticked at myself for taking so long to realize that my HG daytime moisturizer was right in front of me this entire time, but I’m glad for the reminder that newer isn’t always better.
