Sorry, I have Gilmore Girls on the brain right now.

Did you hear that Netflix might be bringing back Gilmore Girls for one very short reunion season? Because I’m pumped.

As I am always late to the party, I never actually watched Gilmore Girls until this year and I binged through all of it more quickly than I would like to admit. Witty quips and romances aside (Lorelai and Luke forever), my favorite part of the show was the relationship between Lorelai and Rory.

Although it’s a bit unrealistic, it was engaging to watch the mother-daughter duo have so much fun together and have their personalities complement each other so perfectly, which is exactly like my newfound mega-moisturizing duo.

I’ve always had annoyingly oily skin that absolutely refused to take on moisturizers. I tried heavy creams, oils, and lotions, choosing lighter and lighter formulas until I settled on the Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel. It always did the job but even as a super-light moisturizer, it never truly sank into my skin until I matched it up with the Indeed Laboratories Hydraluron Moisture Serum.

You need to use only a teeny amount of this serum.

You need to use only a teeny amount of this serum.

Basically, Hydraluron is Rory and Clinique’s Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel is Lorelai.

Hydraluron has the smarts, it’s admittedly the more reserved of the two, and it doesn’t really shine until it is matched up with its BFF, the Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel. (Let’s just call it the DDMG from now on because I feel like that’s something Lorelai would do.)

This serum is based off of the moisturizing power of hyaluronic acid, which can hold up to 1000 times its weight in water. Instead of being an exfoliating acid, hyaluronic acid helps your skin hold in moisture to look more plumped and refreshed, making it the cool kid on the block for people with dry and/or dehydrated skin

The thing is, Hydraluron isn’t moisturizing in and of itself; you put it on and your skin doesn’t feel or look particularly moisturized. Instead, it’s more of the glue that helps skin get the moisturizing benefits of the Clinique DDMG or whatever is the moisturizer of your choice.

My moisturizing standby.

My moisturizing standby.

Clinique’s gel formula moisturizer is super-lightweight, oil-free, and based on a water/glycerin mix. This makes it perfect for gals like me who don’t have to deal with dryness or dry patches.

Just a little dab of Hydraluron (it’s easy to over-use) gives a lightweight, velvety finish to my skin. I’ll then add the Clinique DDMG and wait a few minutes; then, like actual magic, the moisturizer is all the way soaked into my skin.

I don’t know how to accurately describe how life-changing this is. Not only does my skin look healthy and plump, but I don’t have my moisturizer fighting for attention with my already oily face. So my skin is looking better and I get less oily throughout the day, which has been helping keep my makeup around longer, too.

So basically, it’s amazing.

  • Have you tried this serum?
  • Do you have any moisturizing dream teams in your line up?
  • Are you as excited about Gilmore Girls as I am?
