There are few things that please my mermaid heart more than a piping hot bubble bath. I truly covet sinking into a softly scented abyss of soapy goodness and spending some quality time with a good book or a glass of chilled white wine.
Back in the good old days, when I had a tub suitable for endless floating and dreaming, I indulged in luxurious bathing elixirs and flowery salts. I had a whole set of bath products that I’d alternate depending on my mood, and I was constantly on the lookout for new bars and liquids to add to my collection.
But then, I moved. I moved first to an apartment with a horrifically old dirty tub that the landlord promised to replace, and then I moved again when that landlord turned out to be a lying, evil man who stole my money. My current place has many perks, including a higher level of safety in general, but the one thing it doesn’t have is a bath tub. It doesn’t even have a suitable shower. The bathroom is a tiny, disastrous hole in the wall with peeling paint and cracked plastic tiles. Why me?
When arriving at my parents’ house for the holidays, I was looking forward to three things: a big fridge stocked with ample jugs of juice, a soft, clean bed, and bathtubs--two of them.
As soon as I got a chance, I headed over to Lush in search of bath-enhancing products.
I came home with two very special bubble bars: Candy Mountain and Sunny Side.
Both are vegan, and both have a lovely sparkle to them. Candy Mountain gives the bath a nice pink colour and strong vanilla scent, and Sunny Side loads the bubbles with golden glitter and a sweet tangerine scent.
I cut each one in half and slowly dropped them into the running water as the bath filled up.
The result was a divine bubble kingdom of sweet-scented magic. I have never seen bubbles so high and fluffy in my life!
The combination of my parents' intense jet-powered tap and the fizzy wonders of Lush’s bubble bars worked together in perfect harmony to create maybe the best princess bath I have ever had. It was so good, it almost made up for all those bath-less months. Almost.
What are your favourite bath products? Do you crave bath time as much as I do?
