Pumpkin Spice, blah blah blah, Uggs, blah blah, North Face jacket, blabbity blah blah blah. The whole "basic fall girl" thing eludes me. So what if a lady likes a pumpkin latte in the morning? So what if she chooses furry boots over a less obvious cold-weather approved shoe? So what if a warm zip-up or knitted cardigan paired with comfortable leggings is her outfit du jour? FYI: Many folks, myself included, don't dress for the people who scream, "BAAAAASIC." I dress, and consume, for myself and myself alone. So there.
Because there's no shame in loving pumpkin everything in the fall, I'm sharing seven pumpkin beauty products that you can slather all over yourself from head to toe. I triple dog dare you to sip a PSL while you're at it.
Wen Fall Ginger Pumpkin Cleansing Conditioner
Let's start with your head. Many of you are probably familiar with Wen's Cleansing Conditioner, which functions as both a shampoo and conditioning agent. All you do is rinse your hair, apply a generous amount all over, and then set for five to 10 minutes before rinsing. The brand makes several different scents, including this Fall Ginger Pumpkin, which smells like pumpkin heaven. It's much spicier than other pumpkin beauty products I've tried--it reminds me a bit of chai tea.
Epicuren Pumpkin Apple Spice Peel
I love a good face peel, and Epicuren's Pumpkin Apple Spice Peel by Epicuren is a really nice choice. It smells bright and clean and soothes the skin the instant you apply it. After letting it set for about five minutes, you rinse with warm water. The pumpkin and apple enzymes give dead skin cells the boot and leaves my skin feeling soft and moisturized. Enzyme peels are a good choice if you're trying to even out skin tone and banish lingering acne scars. They can be potent, though. I only use this one about two times a week.
Eminence Pumpkin Latte Hydration Masque
I've got two more face products to talk about. This Eminence Pumpkin Latte Hydration Masque and the ilike Pumpkin & Orange Mask below. I think either work well following a peel (or your normal cleanse). The Eminence Masque is a really creamy and rich mask that's infused with pumpkin purée, pumpkin seed oil, soy milk, avocado oil, orange and pineapple pulp, and other organic ingredients. It smells and looks good enough to eat (I actually did taste it, but do not recommend consuming) and it makes my skin feel super hydrated. I recommend this one for those of you with dry or normal skin.
ilike Pumpkin & Orange Mask
The above masque is really creamy and shouts "PUMPKIN." ilike's mask is also an ultra-hydrating product, but I get more of the orange/honey scents than pumpkin purée. It has a thick and gelatinous consistency and it tingles ever-so-slightly for the first minute or so. I recommend this mask for mature or really dry skin that needs a solid kick of moisture.
Gnarly Whale Pumpkin Cheesecake Lip Balm
And we're on to lips. This Gnarly Whale Pumpkin Cheesecake vegan lip balm has been my go-to for weeks now because, well, duh: it's a glorious dessert-y pumpkin lip moisturizer! Who can say no? The formula is more emollient and applies more smoothly than other balms, and you can feel it absorbing into your lips immediately. It does a superb job of moisturizing your lips, as compared to balms that you have to reapply every 20 minutes. And pumpkin cheesecake--I mean, come on.
Bath & Body Works Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin
Ya'll know that Bath & Body Works whips up some mean seasonal scents. Their Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin is my favorite of the bunch this year, and I'll tell you why. First of all, it's not cloying the way some pumpkin creams/washes are. It's got more of a zesty, spicy kick to it that leaves you feeling super fresh and invigorated. Bath & Body Works also has a Pumpkin Pecan Waffle out this fall, but it's far too sweet for me. If you prefer the buttery, syrupy scents, though, you might like it. Otherwise, go for the zesty Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin.
Hillhouse Naturals Autumn Harvested
Finally, for good measure, I'm including a home fragrance. Every autumn I look forward to busting out some spicy pumpkin candles and/or diffusers. However, it's kind of hard to find the perfect smell. Too spicy and you verge on a sneeze-fest, too sweet and you're risking a migraine. Trust me, I've had to give away several other products in my annual quest because they just didn't work. I've found a winner in this Autumn Harvested diffuser by Hillhouse Naturals, though. It's apple-y, spicy and pumpkin-y.
