I've been breakout-free for my last four cycles!

My favorite part of my skincare routine is face masks. Nothing gets me more relaxed than slathering on these skincare treats and relaxing as they do their magic. In addition to my beloved Glossier Moisturizing Moon Mask (which I use pretty much every night), I have been rotating three different masks in my routine to keep my skin free of zits.

Shea Moisture African Black Soap Problem Skin Facial Mask

Shea Moisture is my skincare staple!

I’m am big-time loyal to Shea Moisture’s African Black Soap line, so this mask has been in rotation for a while (and been replenished a couple of times as well). I’ve never had intense acne, but I’ve always struggled with zits along my hairline and forehead (due mostly to my styling products) and along my chin. I seemed to have a lot of issues early on this year, so I started using this mask, which is formulated with tea tree oil, as a spot treatment overnight on my zits. I noticed a big difference in how quickly the zits disappeared and they reduced in size almost immediately.

Origins Clear Improvements Active Charcoal Mask

A little bit of this mask goes a long way; I've used it 8 times in the past 4 months and barely made a dent.

After hearing Danielle sing the praises of this mask earlier this year, I decided to give it a try myself. I’ve purchased the Glam Glow Mask before, which has similar ingredients, but I can honestly say I prefer this one (which is great because it’s way cheaper)! It doesn't seem to sting as much, and I find that my skin looks just as good afterwards, if not better.

I use this mask twice a week; specifically during the week of my period because that is when I’m hit the hardest by breakouts. Since I started using this I’ve been break-out free for my last four cycles, which is basically a Christmas miracle.

Boscia Luminizing Black Mask

This one is my favorite pore-clearing mask!

This one is my favorite pore-clearing mask!

I got a deluxe sample of this from Sephora last year, fell in love, and bought a full-size bottle when I ran out. This mask is a peel off version and kind of feels like you’re spreading liquid latex on your face. Once it’s dried and I peel it off, I can actually see all of the gunk it’s ripped out of my pores (much like looking at the aftermath of a pore strip). It is equal parts disgusting and fascinating, and I love that I have visual proof of my pores being cleaned out.

It definitely zaps the oil up, too, so I make sure to add a little bit more moisturizer afterwards. I stick to the T-zone when applying this one because I find that’s the area I get the most blackheads.
