I've said it before and I'll say it again: our Alyssa is a goddamn trendsetter.
When Pantone made their annual Color of the Year announcement on Thursday, it turned out to be two colors: Rose Quartz (a pale pink) and Serenity (a soft periwinkle). And after Rachel said, "Alyssa would be all over those colors" (after all, her blog is called Random Acts of Pastel), I was like, WAIT A MINUTE—she's already been all over those colors. Or rather, those colors have already been all over her hair.
Once the 2016 colors were unleashed upon our bleak lives, I was fully expecting an onslaught of PR emails about blushes and lipsticks and eyeshadows and nail polishes. And I definitely received plenty of those. (Even though it's Sephora that does an official Pantone collection, all the makeup brands want in on the fun.) But to my surprise, I received even more emails about packaging that fits the bill.
In other words, if you love the Colors of the Year and want to see them all over your bathroom or vanity, you can buy products based on the bottles (not even special-edition ones—already-existing bottles) simply being similar shades. Who cares what's inside them, right?
Personally, I'm not crazy about the colors, but I can see how they'll be a big hit in the beauty community.
