What does “having it all” entail? According to Liz Lemon, it means a thriving career at a sketch-comedy show and a family at home, or just being able to wolf down a sub and still catch a man before he gets on his flight. According to me, however, it means going to the drugstore and being able to purchase any beauty product I can imagine.
Right now, we have seemingly endless options at our disposal. Between spray-on nail polish and custom fragrances, you’d think we really do have it all. But I want more. Maybe it’s the millennial in me, but it just isn’t enough to have 3D-printed beauty accessories anymore.
So, yes, we have a lot. We have so much to be grateful for, so let’s take a minute and just appreciate yadda yadda yadda.
But let’s be honest: How many times haven’t we sat with one leg up on the bath trying to dry-shave before a big event and thought, there must be more to life than this? The most impressed I’ve ever been with a beauty product was when I bought this false eyelash applicator that helps me use pesky false lashes without getting them stuck on my fingers instead.
For ambitious thinkers like me, here are some beauty products that need to be invented ASAP./
Reusable Wet Wipes
I know this might sound unhygienic or whatever, but wet wipes are pretty overpriced. I hate spending major $$$ just to get rid of the makeup on my face. It doesn’t seem worth it at all.
Imagine if they could somehow make wet wipes reusable so that, when they’ve gone dry, all you need to do is run them under warm water and the product on it runs down the sink and it’s wet again for use. If they’re really stingy about this new invention, they can even make the amount of reuse limited (although I envision many tight budgets stretching that limit already).
Foundation-Blending Sponge with Foundation Already in It
If they could figure out a non-messy way to do this, it would be heaven. Picture, in the same way an automatic liquid eyeliner pen gives you liner on command, if a cute little foundation sponge could do the same.
In a world where anything is possible, all I do is hold my Beautyblender to my face and squeeze a little to start applying. When I stop squeezing, I can now use it just to blend.
Razors That Foam Up
Realising you have to shave your legs in a hurry is not fun. We don’t always have the luxury of a hot shower and array of products to make that shaving experience more comfortable and less like a scene from a movie where the male romantic lead somehow finds himself in a woman’s body.
I invite you to imagine a razor that foams up with shaving gel upon use, so it can’t help but provide a smooth, even shave, regardless of the ETA of your date.
I’m a bit sketchy when it comes to my knowledge of lasers. They’re magical things that do anything you want them to when you point them in a specific direction, right? They remove tattoos (sort of) and hair and are used in action movies to detonate something or other. Also, my cat likes to chase one.
So forgive me if this seems in any way undoable, but a laser that could remove blackheads would be awesome. Or even whiteheads. Anyheads. You point this inoffensive red dot (are all lasers red?) at your skin and PEW-PEW! Those stubborn blackheads disappear from your nose, never to return again. No more blackhead strips, exfoliators and weird DIY mixtures off of Pinterest.
Lipstick That Exfoliates and Moisturises
This idea came to me while thinking of a beloved Sephora Color Lip Last and wondering why we have to sacrifice the feel of our lips for the look of our lips. Not only is the pigmentation and application of this lipstick perfection, it lasts for-ev-er. The problem is, when it does come off, it sort of crumbles and won’t budge and makes my mouth look a bit gory (it’s red).
I think we all deserve a lipstick that does crumble off when it’s time to come off, but does so evenly—and if it does crumble, the little crumbles provide exfoliation and moisturisation so that, once it’s actually off your mouth, it looks better than before you applied it.
- Would you buy any of these hypothetical products?
- What kind of beauty products would you like to see on shelves in the near future?
- Can anyone explain how a laser works?
