British brand Nails Inc has finally opened a stateside salon inside of Saks Fifth Avenue in New York City.
The nail bar is equipped with 150-plus nail shades, including Nails Inc’s runway-inspired colors, kale extract-infused polishes, and its gel effect range. There are eight services ranging from a $24, 15-minute express manicure to a $150 blinged-out Swarovski manicure. Each manicure has an English-inspired name (London Caviar Express, Queen Bee, The Crown Jewels), and incorporates ingredients currently popular in the UK (rose water and Manuka honey). If the treatment itself isn’t enough to make you feel like Kate Middleton’s distant relative, just wait until the hot tea and mini shortbread biscuits arrive at your station.
I tried the English Rose: a $35, 30-minute manicure that left my hands feeling the softest they’ve been in what seemed like ages. But the really fun part? Testing Nails Inc’s brand-new VVB Victoria Beckham collection. The shades: Judo Red, a vibrant orange-red; and Bamboo White, a pinkish-beige white ($25 each; $45 for the duo).
If you’re a fashion lover like moi, there are a number of reasons why you’d appreciate this collection. For starters, the colors were inspired by Victoria Beckham’s Victoria Victoria Beckham Japanese-inspired Spring 2015 collection. Second, the sleek, white and black frosted Venetian glass bottles were designed by Victoria Beckham and legendary fashion, art, and editorial director Fabien Baron (think Interview, Vogue Italia and Harper’s Bazaar). Last, but not least, the formula is A-1, on point. It's opaque enough that you can apply one coat and go (even the Bamboo White), and leaves a smooth finish without any cake-y buildup. I’ve had this manicure for a full seven days, and there has been no chipping. Yes, I’m quite impressed myself.
I opted for a subtle, mix-match half-moon manicure with Judo Red on one hand and Bamboo White on the other. Bamboo White is more of a milky pink on me, but that’s what I like about it—it’s a good neutral. The Judo Red is perfect for the spring and summer. It may just be my go-to come next season. The VVB Victoria Beckham collection will be available at Sephora, Saks and online starting next month.
