I’ve always been drawn to glitter polish. Here's the thing, though: It always looks pretty in the bottle but often the actual glitter looks pretty sparse and lackluster on my nails.

The glitz can be intensified by applying extra coats, but then you end up with thick, gloppy nails that aren't exactly comfortable. Enter the makeup sponge. Using a cosmetic wedge to apply the glitter allows for maximum sparkle and minimal glop. Here’s how to do it:

Start with a base color. I used L'Oréal Nail Color in Jet Set To Paris.

Add the glitter polish onto the sponge. Allow the polish to sink in slightly, then use the sponge to apply the glitter to the nail.

Repeat.

Keep adding more layers until you're satisfied. Finish with your favorite top coat.

To make your own glitter top coat, combine loose glitter and top coat on the sponge.

All of the glitter.

All of the glitter.

You might not want to wear all of these looks together, but I won't stop you.
