The festive season is always my favorite season makeup-wise (on all other subjects it pretty much sucks, IMHO). Halfway into November, everything starts popping up in wonderful golden tones, and I love that.
I’m always saddened that people only feel the need to shine during the festive season, and that’s why I’m showing you three easy, wearable, year-round looks featuring my favorite golden products.
I’m always a fan of a strong highlight, and Topshop Beauty Chameleon Highlighter in Mother of Pearl definitely is strong. This iridescent rose-gold glow looks good on most skin tones, and it’s such a unique color.
I took inspiration from literally any Victoria's Secret look ever and paired it with a minimal eye look (some crease definition in matte shades and a tiny bit of eyeliner) and a sheer, pink lip. Because I wanted the highlight to be the star of this look, I applied less blush and contour than I normally would. Then, I just took the highlighter to the top of the cheekbones, inner corner of the eyes, cupid’s bow, and the tip of the nose.
If you want to go for a more sophisticated type of gold, try Milani blush in Rose D’Oro. The coral tone has a golden glow to it that’s subtle but still noticeable. (This blush is super-pigmented, so you might want to go easy on it.)
I paired it with a barely-there eye and a red lip, but to be honest, I wear this blush with basically any look. I highlighted my cheekbones with a gold eyeshadow (L’Oréal Infallible in Goldmine) and blended that into the blush to keep that golden glow going.
One of my favorite ways of wearing a statement eyeshadow is in the simplest way possible: just a simple wash of color on the lid.
I defined my crease with some warm neutrals from the Vice4 palette by Urban Decay. Then, I took the L’Oréal Infallible eyeshadow and lightly patted it across the lid with my ring finger.
In the middle of the lid I wanted a more intense layer of gold and I applied some more eyeshadow, with a wet finger.
On the rest of the face I kept things simple and I stayed in the warm neutrals department, adding some bronzer and an orange blush.
These are just a few really simple ways of incorporating more gold in your lives, because I want you all to stay golden. If you’re like me and you like to shine, I also wouldn’t be mad at you for wearing all gold items together.
