If it's Haley Joel Osment, we have that in common.

I'm fascinated by resemblances. The tiniest differences make everyone's face distinctive enough for our brain to tell people apart from each other (unless you have face blindness), and yet, we regularly see something in specific people's faces that remind us of other specific people.

I can't watch Kristen Wiig so much as blink without being reminded of my friend Caroline. On the other hand, my friend Evan has never reminded me of Tom Cruise, but when he throws on sunglasses and wig, he does an uncanny and increasingly famous impression of him. It's downright freaky.

Most of us aren't going to pursue a career as a celebrity lookalike, even if we hear "Oh, you look like so-and-so," like, every day; but there's something kind of fun about hearing you look like someone famous. I mean, there's literally an app for that. And remember Jane magazine's recurring feature "People Say I Look Like/I Think I Look Like"? Well, I do because I was in it way back in 2004.

I'd been told I looked like both Salinger sisters many times when I was younger (I honestly don't think I've seen even one episode of "Party of Five"), but Jane (who I didn't actually meet until 2012) was the first person to say I look like Mel C. Thanks?

I've also been told, at least once, that I look like the following:

  • Vanessa Carlton
  • Melanie Lynskey
  • Sarah Silverman
  • Monica Bellucci
  • Mary Louise Parker
  • Nigella Lawson
  • Cher
  • Britney Spears
  • Haley Joel Osment
