Ever since Wendy wrote about multi-masking back in August, I've been implementing that approach in my own skincare routine. (Thanks, Wendy!)
Recently, I had an "aha!" moment when I realized that this multi-product approach didn't have to be limited to skincare. Why not up my makeup game with a little primer customization?
Since I've been playing around with more natural- and luminous-finish foundations, I didn't want to completely negate the glow effect by using matte primer all over my face. Instead, I opted to start using matte primer just through my T-zone.
My favorite primer for this is currently Silk'n Matte Oil Control. It's not quite as hardcore-matte as some other mattifying primers, but it's really great at controlling oil in general, and it keeps my makeup from fading through the center of my face.
To help keep the overall finish of my foundation looking especially smooth, I look to Mirabella Prime. This primer has a decent amount of slip to it, but it doesn't feel as greasy as some other silcone-based primers do on me. I don't necessarily feel like it makes a difference as far as the longevity of my foundation, but it gives my skin a nice, smooth base and diminishes the appearance of my pores.
Now that I am embracing the glowy look these days, I've also taken to applying an illuminating primer to the tops of my cheekbones, just above my eyebrows, and above my cupid's bow.
I'm a big fan of the Becca Backlight Priming Filter for this because it gives of the most gorgeous, champagne glow that's not overly shimmery or obvious.
Under foundation it really makes my skin look extra-fresh.
