Breaking beauty hack news: I've been using Hard Candy's eyelash primer to thicken up my eyebrows.

When it comes to eyebrows, I'm in the line of belief that bigger is better. All of my eyebrow icons are ladies who wore their brows bushy: Audrey Hepburn, Edie Sedgwick, Elizabeth Taylor. These women all knew that strong brows could be the perfect finishing touch to their pretty, pretty faces.

In order to get the look myself, I barely tweeze my brows (after years of scary, wide-apart, junior-high plucking sessions--yeesh), and I powder and gel them into dark, arching caterpillars every time I plan on leaving the house. They're a decent size and shape without any product, but I'm always on the lookout for something to give them an extra bit of oomph.

That's why I've been employing Hard Candy 1,000 Lashes Fiberized Lash Weave Primer. Intended as a lash primer, this cruelty-free mascara contains tiny little fibres in a white-ish base that stick to eyelashes to plump them up and give them volume before applying your regular mascara on top. Turns out the technology works just as well on thickening brows up to their bushy glory when applied just so.

Can you see the itty-bitty fibres?

To get my ideal look, I start by brushing the primer into my brows in an up-and-out motion. I let it dry a bit before applying another coat, and then I start to fill in my brows.

Using an angled brow brush, I apply a dark brown brow powder in a pressing motion to fill in my ideal shape. (I wrote about how to get Audrey Hepburn's brow shape, if you're interested.)

Thanks to the fibres underneath, my brows have a much thicker and fuller appearance.

Thick brows, green lashes, can't lose.

Of course, this product works out wonderfully when you use it as an actual mascara primer, especially when you dip into coloured formulations. Purples, blues, greens--all super-pretty. I'm wearing green mascara in the photo above, and I think it's a nice subtle contrast to bare lids and red lips (my lipstick is Ardency Inn MODSTER Long-Play Supercharged Lip Color in Lovecat).

It's like my eyelashes are tiny blades of grass. How springy.

All right, now show me your best brow game. Maybe one of you can buy green mascara and put THAT on your brows. Just an idea…
