Let's make gray lips a thing.

Recently, while perusing some drugstore makeup, I found an interesting shade that I had never seen anyone wear before: Rossetto from the Lasting Finish by Kate Moss line of light-reflecting lipsticks that's "infused with black diamonds" (and yet still $4 somehow).

You are an anomaly, lipstick.

You are an anomaly, lipstick.

This is quite a sheer lipstick and it looks mauve—a '90s favorite—in most lights. I think it's quite a unique and versatile colour, though, and it definitely generates attention.

Here are two different, retro looks I created with it.

Monochromatic Shimmer

For this look, I swept a super-shimmery silver eyeshadow all over my eyelids. Then, I subtly lined my eyes with a black pencil liner and applied mascara.

Almost as futuristic as it is retro.

I applied the Rossetto lipstick and kapow! I turned into a snow queen (June is the when winter starts here in Australia, after all). I didn't use any lipliner, which made the shade look even more mauve on my lips.

Gray Goth

This is quite a dramatic look! I made my brows super-bold, and I applied mascara and a little smudged-out pencil liner for the eyes, since I knew I was going to play up the lips.

Then, using a black pencil, I lined and filled in my lips to manipulate the color of the the lipstick. After that, I applied the Rossetto. This created a more gray shade.

Now you're done! You can channel your innermost vampy goth girl.
