Lightweight coverage that stays where it belongs.

When it comes to foundation, I usually stick to medium- or full-coverage formulas because the extra coverage tends to help keep my oily skin in check. I love the finish of fuller-coverage foundation, but recently, I’ve been looking for lighter-coverage options to save me some getting ready time and give me a more natural look.

I’ve struck out in the past with tinted moisturizers because they often slide right off my face after a few hours, but luckily, I found a few formulas that actually stay where they belong.

NYX Tinted Moisturizer ($10)

I wore this on a day that I stopped by MAC to get a new concealer after work, and the gal who helped me complimented me on the appearance of my skin!

At 10 bucks, this tinted moisturizer is a pretty nice steal. The formula is really lightweight and definitely more on the runny side than some of the other options on the list, which makes it super-quick and easy to blend. I found it stayed put over the day with a little bit of creasing around the underside of my nose and where my glasses sit, but otherwise it definitely held up pretty well.

NYX also has a decent shade selection (although I wish they had a few darker shades); I picked out Warm Beige, which is actually a tad dark for me.

Pixi H20 Skin Tint ($24.99)

This one was the most unique products formula-wise because it felt like it had more of a gel-cream texture and it set really well on its own. Tinted moisturizers are usually pretty dewy on me until I finish with powder, but the finish on this was a nice semi-matte. It also stayed looking fresh on me through my entire workday and still looked good when I got home.

Unfortunately, there are only three shades available, and the darkest shade was barely dark enough for me.

Jouer Matte Moisture Tint ($40)

I loved this tinted moisturizer as soon as I put in on. The formula is on the creamier side, but the coverage is perfect and the finish is a nice semi-matte as well. As the day goes on, it actually seems to look fresher as it blends with the oil in my skin. I do have to blot a couple of times on the T-zone throughout the day, but when I go to wash my face at night, my skin still looks great.

They could definitely stand to broaden the shade range in the darker shades, but otherwise, this is a great product—my favorite of the bunch.

NARS Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer ($43)

NARS was a close second for me in this roundup. It is a slightly thinner formula than Jouer's and leans dewier, but a little extra powder through the T-zone helped in that respect. I wore it out and about quite a few times this summer and I thought it held up pretty well to Kansas humidity and heat.

The thing that made it a close contender for first place, though, was that fact that there were more shades available on the darker end of the spectrum.
