I tend to bite my lips a lot. (I pick at my nails, too.) This always happens when I'm anxious, and when I'm really anxious I don't just bite my lips--I chew on them. You can probably imagine what the latter half of the last season of Breaking Bad has done to my poor lips. They don't look or feel great right now.

Luckily, I have a wide array of balms that help this situation. Not only do they soften my poor lips, but they also have pleasant scents that relax me. Even the act of applying the balm is soothing to me and helps to relieve some tension.

Immediately after this picture was taken, my little lip balm tower toppled over. Don't try this at home, kids.

I also like lip balms that taste good. It comes in handy when you're snuggling up to someone, perhaps needing a different kind of tension release after watching Jesse get destroyed all over again for the millionth time.

I love it when my lips smell AND taste delicious, and guys don't seem to mind either. A light coating of a flavored lip balm is much better for making out than goopy lip gloss or lipstick that smears all over both of you.

Read on for my top three favorite tasty lip balms--but first, a before shot of my naked lips.

My top lip was looking particularly dry. Lovely.

Oh yeah, you're gonna want to prepare yourself for more closeups of my lips than you ever wanted to see (and my mole!). They look super-weird to me now.

TokyoMilk Dark Salted Caramel Lip Elixir

I just mentioned this lip balm in my Sephora post. It's the very first thing I ever bought from Sephora, and I love it so much. It is completely worth the $7 I paid for it. You can also find it on the TokyoMilk website, along with seven other uniquely scented lip balms like Clove Cigarete and Absinthe. I'm currently struggling to decide which one to try next.

The Salted Caramel has a very strong, sweet scent, as you'd expect from the name, and has the strongest taste of the three. It doesn't taste like anything in particular--just very sweet. It goes on clear and has a Vaseline-like consistency. It's basically like Rosebud Salve, except that it's not tinted. (I know everyone goes bananas for Rosebud Salve, but I hate rose-scented things so I'm declaring TokyoMilk's Lip Elixir to be superior.)

It makes my lips super-smooth and as long as you don't pile it on, it won't transfer all over your drink or your date's face. And even if it does, it's clear and smells great, so no harm done!

If only you guys could smell this stuff through the computer screen.

The beautiful packaging is another plus for me, although if you don't like putting your finger in a tin, this may not be for you. I personally don't mind; you get a lot of product in the tin and I don't even apply it with my finger half the time anyway. I just stick my mouth and wrists straight into the tin because I'm elegant like that. Yes, wrists too; you can totally use this as a solid perfume.

EOS Lemon Drop Lip Balm Sphere with SPF 15

Yeah, this one has SPF 15 so if you're worried about protecting your lips from the sun, this is the lip balm for you. Not all of the eos lip balms have SPF, though; I think it may just be this one.

They have six other flavors, all of which go on clear, but this is the only one I've tried so far. The lemon in the name is more like a candy lemon flavor than a real lemon, which I like. In case you couldn't tell, I am all about artificial sweetness.

Yum. It's like wearing candy on my lips.

I love the packaging of this one, too. Sometimes I feel a little silly when I break it out in public, but for some reason the smooth sphere is just a lot of fun to hold, open, and apply. The shape also makes it really easy to find it when you're digging around all the other lip balms in your purse.

Maybelline Baby Lips in Cherry Me

The name of this product enrages me. I don't want to have baby lips! I want grown-up lips because I use them to do grown-up things with grown-up men. The name just skeeves me out a little, and it actually kept me from purchasing the product for ages despite hearing good things about it.

I'm glad I relented, though, because this stuff is so nice. I bought Cherry Me for myself, and Pink Punch and Peach Kiss for my younger sisters. All three smell really, really good.

Pink Punch is a subtle but pretty shade, and Peach Kiss is even lighter--appropriate enough for a 14-year-old and 10-year-old to wear to school. They also have sheer versions.

Do these look like a baby's lips to you?

The cherry is a light pink "your lips but better" shade; it's nice if you want a bit of color. It also has the perfect amount of shimmer, which usually bothers me with other lip products, but it works in this instance. Also, I can't speak for the other ones, but Cherry Me has a slightly sweet taste accompanying the strong cherry smell. This one would be your best bet if you want some color and don't want to overwhelm your date with overpoweringly sugary lips.

I do feel like Baby Lips might be a little overpriced at $4 (I'm sorry, I'm such a cheapskate) and although they claim to moisturize your lips for eight hours, it feels gone pretty quickly. My other quibble is the childish packaging, but with a name like Baby Lips, I don't really know what I expected. Still, I begrudgingly admit to liking these.

And there you have it: My personal pick for the three best-scented, yummiest-tasting, prettiest-looking, most lip-softening lip balms that are out there! Sorry for that sentence. Let me know if you've tried these or if I missed your personal favorite.

Also, I really want an excuse to talk about Breaking Bad with you guys, but you can also talk about making out instead if you'd prefer. Answer one of the following (or both, for bonus points): Do you totally hate Walt or you do still feel a little sorry for him? What do you like to wear on your lips for make out sessions, if anything?
