Over the Thanksgiving holiday I was fortunate enough to be able to spend a week in Maui with some of my family. During the trip I got to see a lot of really beautiful things, and on one sightseeing outing I passed by a small gathering of male peacocks. Now, I’ve definitely seen peacocks before, but something about the way their feathers glistened in the Maui sunset left me feeling particularly inspired (I mean, who isn’t inspired on vacation right?).
I couldn't get my camera out fast enough to catch the peacocks in Maui, but here’s my inspiration.
To start, I primed my eyes with Lorac Behind the Scenes Eyes Eyelid Primer and then primed just the mobile lid with the NYX Jumbo Eye Shadow Pencil in Milk to make the color really pop. Next, using the Urban Decay Electric Palette I took the shade Gonzo (a vibrant aqua) and patted it all over my mobile lid.
Then I took a dampened eye shadow brush and dipped it in my Makeup Geek Pigment in Insomnia and applied it from the inner corner of my lid to just about halfway across.
Using an e.l.f. Eye Crease Brush, I took the shade Fringe from the Electric Palette and applied it in the crease and then went back in with a fluffy blending brush using windshield wiper motions to extend the color slightly above the crease.
I also lightly dusted on a shimmery beige color from where Fringe stops up to the brow bone to make everything more seamless. After I applied all of my foundation and concealer, I went back in and created a wing on my upper lash line using the Tyra by Tyra Banks Oops Liner (more on that later) and added a couple of coats of mascara.
Then I took my Jordana 12 HR Eye Liner Pencil in Purple fix and lined my lower lash line and used Urban (another shade from the Electric Palette) overtop of the liner, followed by mascara on my bottom lashes.
To complete the eyes I added a dash of a lime green shadow from my Sephora Collection Palette (it’s limited edition from a while back but they always have a mega palette of some sort available) and filled in my brows.
Since this is such a strong eye look, I decided to keep the lips and cheeks neutral by adding MAC Blush in Gingerly to my cheeks and Maybelline Color Whisper in Mocha Muse (mixed with a little bit of Gingerly) to my lips.
This look is brighter than I would typically go, but I like the way the vibrant blues make my eyes stand out.
