Get these cheap, vibrant colors for your lashes before they're gone!

Maybelline just released another limited edition line of their Great Lash Colored Mascaras this past August. They’ve been doing this every summer since 2011 but I only just heard about it a few weeks ago. Naturally, I ran to Target to get some before they were all out. I actually only made it there on September 1st, but even though they’re an August-only type deal, there were tons of colored mascaras left sitting on the shelves. Apparently people in rural Pennsylvania aren’t super into hot pink mascara--who knew? (Okay, I knew and I was banking on it.)

"YOU'RE MISSING OUT BIG TIME, PEOPLE!" I yelled as I sprinted to the Target checkout with these clutched in my hand.

I couldn’t limit myself to just one color so I bought four: I See Blue, Vision in Violet, Teal Appeal, and Wink of Pink. Luckily they’re only about five bucks each so this whimsical little purchase of mine didn’t break the bank. If you manage to only buy one like a sane person, then it’s even more reasonable!

I thought I’d do a quick review of these with lots of pictures so you guys could see what each one looks like. In the end I probably only would have bought two of the colors, but at the time I didn’t have any way of knowing which one was best.

Wink of Pink

This one was one of my favorites. It’s a hot pink that shows up well even on my very dark lashes.

It showed up better on my lower lashes but that’s probably because I still had some residual black mascara on my top lashes. I know, I’m hanging my head in shame.

Teal Appeal

I didn’t like this one as much as I thought I would. The color was just too pale and not vibrant enough.

Looking at pictures of it now, however, it's growing on me. It's a very pretty color and it was the best match for my own eye color. This one is good if you want a more subtle look.

Vision in Violet

I had the same problem with this one: It didn’t show up extremely well on my dark lashes unless you look closely.

Again, that could be a good thing if you don't want your colorful mascara to be screaming its presence to the world. I also thought the purple looked pretty with my eye color.

I See Blue

I was pleasantly surprised by this one. I wouldn’t have guessed that it was going to be such a vibrant, electric blue.

This was probably the most eye-catching color, so you've been warned.

In the end, I See Blue and Wink of Pink were the best of the bunch if you want vibrant, shocking color. I do think that if you have fair lashes or don't want a very bright color, the violet and teal could be for you.

Anyway, I hope you’re not judging me for buying not one but four colored mascaras. I’ll admit that I don’t think I’ll be wearing them every day, but they’re just so fun I couldn’t resist. They’re a nice alternative to eyeshadow for people like me who have rather hooded eyes and still want some color in the eye area.

I think the purple and teal colors will be great for a subtle hint of color around my eyes during the day. The pink and electric blue can be layered on top of black mascara for a more subtle look or on their own for a fun, unexpected pop of color.

If you go now, your local Target or drugstore might still have a few left over. If you already grabbed a few, what did you think? Are you guys fans of colored mascara in general?
