Yep, I drank the fuchsia Kool-Aid.

I like to consider myself and equal opportunity lipstick wearer. Though MAC has always made my favorite, I was recently turned on to something new. Actually, it's kind of an oldie, but it's definitely a goodie: Mary Kay True Dimension Lipstick in Sassy Fuchsia.

I know what you’re thinking, Mary Kay? Really? I hear you. When I was first asked to attend a Mary Kay event I was dubious. Would it be a gaggle of auntie types? Would they try and con/pressure me into buying a bunch of crap that I had no interest in? I walked away from the event mostly wrong about my preconceptions, and yes, I bought a single lipstick.

Kind of sexy, right? The case reads silver in this beauty shot, but it's definitely gunmetal in person!

When it arrived in the mail I was immediately impressed with how sleek the packaging was. The tube is taller than most and has a smooth gunmetal casing. The color is a beautiful vivid pink with purple undertones. I especially like that it's not super opaque and it has really buildable coverage. The fuchsia appears fully saturated with just a few swipes.

What really impressed me, though, was the texture. It goes on super smooth and hydrating, like a lip balm, and leaves behind a glossy sheen. Plus, I got a solid five hours of wear without having to reapply.

In about a month's time, this lipstick has quickly become my go-to for everyday color. I still love my other favorites (you'd have to pry my MAC Flat Out Fabulous from my cold, dead hand!), but the color and texture of the Mary Kay is like nothing I've ever tried. It even beats my beloved Revlon Balm Stains.

Have you used Mary Kay? What other products do you recommend? Any favorites from similar companies like Avon or Arbonne?
