If there's one thing I'd like to work towards in the future, it's to travel more. I've been here and there in North America, but never anywhere else, and I have a huge case of wanderlust.
I mean, I just know that the world's most beautiful beaches are packed with happy travelers right now. Meanwhile, I'm stuck in Toronto, where the "beach" is actually a lake.
So I feed my need for travel in other ways. I watch films like Pierrot le Fou and stare at Slim Aarons photos of vacationing socialites throughout the 20th century. And of course there's always beauty products, splurge-worthy things that have a hint of luxury.
I've been obsessed with Atelier Cologne Orange Sanguine Cologne Absolue for years. It's simultaneously very fresh and sexy, with a zingy kick of citrus (blood orange) mingling with a bit of musk. Just inhaling it boosts my mood and makes me feel like throwing on a dress and sandals.
The Body Oil
Body oils feel so necessary in the summertime. It gives great moisturization and a dewy glow. Leonor Greyl PARIS's Huile Secret de Beauté Hair & Skin Oil is probably the French-iest body oil out there. Think how pretty the bottle will look in your medicine cabinet? Organic and cruelty-free, it's meant for the body (apply after showering), but you can also use it on the ends of your hair. The scent is a mix of lemongrass, tiare, and yucca. It smells like a beach. In heaven.
The Hair Refresher
Oribe Cote d'Azur Hair Refresher contains a fine mist of the brand's signature scent--one of the most luxurious scents I've ever smelled. In addition to scenting your hair and neutralizing any odors (been hanging out with smokers?), this spray eschews static, rejuvenates any product you may have applied earlier, offers UV protection, and has amber and aloe tea leaf extract to strengthen and nourish. It's just so dreamy.
Guerlain Terracotta Four Seasons Bronzer is pure elegance. Actually, I feel that way about most of Guerlain's products. This bronzer has a formula enriched with pure gold in each of its four shades, which you can use individually or mix and match to get your ideal glow throughout the year. It's beautifully pigmented, the powder smells of flowers, and it goes on like silk. The colors in my compact (Nude) are great for giving super-pale girls a subtly sun-kissed (and decidedly not orange) glow. If you don't want to shell out this kind of $$$, there are similar bronzer palettes you can try, such as Urban Decay's Naked Flushed.
If you could travel anywhere in the world this summer, where would you go? What would your beauty look be? Icon inspiration images (Brigitte, Sophia) are welcome!
