I have four jobs: I’m one of the editors at inSing, and there’s xoVain (which I’d give anything to make my full-time gig!) and I am a social media content provider for two SMEs in Asia.
It’s exhausting, which is why I love sleep. On days I get a full eight hours of sleep, you will find me skipping around with a trail of glitter, excited about life and everything in between; I’m so happy you’d want to slap me. Most days however, I don’t get enough rest.
That's fine--I understand my commitments and something's gotta give, but there are days when, even after I’ve had a shower and I’m wrapped in a towel, I crawl in the cozy comforts of my bed and fall asleep again.
And that happens quite a bit. I take a shower, wrap myself in a towel, and then crawl back to bed. Am I the only one who does that?
While my bed frame is a cheap one from IKEA, my mattress is one of the best investments I’ve ever made; it feels like a thousand angels are caressing my back and I don’t ever want to get up. So I don’t.
Therefore, I’ve devised a way of spending more time in bed by doing my makeup in it.
I have a chest of plastic drawers by my bed that stores my shoes and random things, including a basic makeup kit that I’d need in the morning. You need to make sure that these things are within reach because you don’t want to do more work than you should be doing before 8 A.M.
By now, I assume you would have at least 20-something years of looking at your face and touching it. You should know where everything is.
If you haven’t taken a shower (I take three showers a day in Singapore because it’s bloody hot and because I love showers), clean the gunk off your face with a wet wipe. Following that, pump some primer on your face and use your fingers to rub it in.
Here’s where you might need a mirror: for your brows. I don’t fill in my brows when I’m lazy; instead, a swipe of brow gel will do, and you’d be amazed at what a difference a few seconds would make!
I’ve done this so much that I don’t need a mirror for the next bit: conceal and blend before dusting my face with a finishing powder. I don’t use foundation unless I have meetings or events on that day.
Next, some color to give you life! The best part about lying down when you do your makeup is you can use your boobs to prop stuff up! You can use one product for both your lip and your cheeks.
And then all you need are clothes and a fresh breath and you’re ready for the world!
