Bold blues with an ombré effect.

To be completely honest, I’m not a big fan of summer. I far prefer mild, fall temperatures to sweltering heat and humidity.

Unfortunately, my hatred alone is not enough to stop the heat from coming, so I’ve decided this year to try to embrace it for what it is. And what better way to welcome summer than to put a pool party on my eyes (because the only way to beat the heat is to take a dip in the pool, right)?

As always, I started with primed eyelids; since I’m playing with more colorful eyeshadow shades, I’m waiting to do my foundation until after the eyes are finished, as I’m expecting some shadow fallout.

I start with applying blue eyeshadow that reminds me of water in the shallow end of the pool; light and shimmery.

I had originally added other shadow shades above the crease but wiped them away in the end!

Next, to mimic water in the deeper end of the pool, I place a darker blue in the crease of my lids, concentrating the most color in the outer corner and working slowly towards the center of my lid as if the lighter shade is fading into the dark. I blended out the harsh edges with a clean, fluffy blending brush.

Using a dense crease brush really packs the color in there.

Taking a dampened angled liner brush and an electric blue shade, I line my upper lash line, ending in a small winged shape.

I finished the eyes by filling in my brows and applying a single coat of mascara.

I didn't want to go to heavy on the mascara so the electric liner would really stand out.

I like the way the light fades into dark.

Since the eyes are so colorful, I put the barest hint of soft pink-nude blush on my cheeks and the CoverGirl Lip Lava in Lava Glow on my lips (clear with gold flecks).

The blues definitely stand out!

You guys killed it in the comments last week, but I’m all about the purple lips a few of you were rocking:
