This will come in useful if your dog is anything like mine. Or if you have a baby. Or a cast.

Internet, meet my new adopted dog Doug, a 2-year-old Irish Setter and Golden Retriever mix. He's perfect in every way: snuggly, fluffy, goofy, and smart.

He's also very needy. I don't know if it's just his personality or if it has something to do with the neglect in his past, but he has some separation anxiety and is at his happiest when he's sitting next to me being petted.

To keep Doug happy and calm while he settles into his new home, I've been doing a lot of things one-handed, including my makeup. Actually, I've been skipping makeup most days--Doug likes me just the way I am. Also, he REALLY wants to go to the dog park RIGHT NOW.

But I've still managed to get the one-handed makeup routine down to a science. So if you have a dog like Doug, or your arm is in a cast or something, go ahead and press play below.

In case you couldn't watch or hear the video, some tips include:

● Using pump bottles instead of screw-off caps whenever possible.

● Using a BB cream or light foundation that can be blended easily with fingers.

● Using multi-purpose products, such as a blush/lipstick duo or an eyeliner pencil that can be used to fill in brows.

Remember, this is the time to aim for a soft, natural look instead of a full face of glamorous makeup. It's much easier to mess up a red lip or a winged eye when you're only using one hand.

I used Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On Eye Pencil in Demolition (a medium brown) for smudged eyeliner and defined brows, Perricone MD No Foundation Foundation in No. 1 for an even complexion, and Perricone MD No Blush Blush for naturally flushed lips and cheeks. I also curled my eyelashes with some generic eyelash curler that I need to upgrade.

Adoptive bliss.

Have you ever done your makeup one-handed? If so, why?

P.S. Stay tuned for more weekend posts. Maybe soon we'll talk about Doug's favorite dog grooming products. Would you all like that?

P.S.S. Yes, his name is Doug Dougher. The G in my last name is silent.
