Being skilled at socializing in college but poor at time management caused me many a freak out as I waited until the last minute to complete the next day’s assignments/study for “the big test.” It usually went something like, “What?! THAT’S DUE TOMORROW?! Give me ALL the Red Bull, all of it!” Staying up all night definitely left me looking raggedy for the day ahead and my own vanity was not letting me have that.
Here’s a quick routine to get yourself out the door looking more fresh-faced than you might feel.
No matter how tired I was, I always washed my face first thing, lest I blind other unsuspecting students with the sheen of my oily face. Clean your face, friend, you can thank me later. Next, apply some tinted moisturizer or BB cream to your face, blending quickly with your fingers to even out your complexion. I also like to pat just a little extra under the eyes to cover up dark circles.
Apply a long-wearing cream shadow to the mobile lid in a semi-neutral, slightly metallic shade, blending up into the crease. Next, take a little bit of a matte light brown shadow or bronzer and dust it across your crease with a fluffy blending brush to soften the cream shadow and add a bit of light definition to your eyes. To make your eyes look more awake, line the top lash line with whatever liner is fastest to apply (I use my Jordana Fabuliner Liquid Eye Liner Pen), add a couple of coats of L’Oreal Voluminous Million Lashes, and line the lower water liner with a nude eye liner pencil.
After brightening your eyes, finish the look off by quickly filling in brows with a matte brown shadow and swiping on a cream blush/lip tint in a coral color. My favorite is this NARS Matte Multiple in Laos, but if you’re a little more budget conscious, try the lip and cheek balm from Shea Moisture in Avignon Rose.
Now you’re finished, less zombie-like, and ready to make it to your 8 a.m. class--but not before you grab a cup of coffee first!
