I had a different topic lined up for this week, but it would have required putting on makeup so that I could take a nice picture of myself. (I know that you, our lovely readers, wouldn't judge my makeup-free face but there's something to be said for presentation, and this is a beauty site, after all.)
However, I plan on going to the gym later, and just once I'd like to go to my kettle-bells class with bare skin. (And who wants to put on a ton of makeup only to wash it off right after? Literally watching money go down the drain!) You see, often I have plans before or after my workout, so I just end up going to the gym wearing my usual "natural" makeup look to save time.
Pictured below are the products I use, and this is the routine: I curl my lashes with the Tweezerman ProCurl and use Maybelline Full 'n' Soft Waterproof Mascara, then Clinique Redness Solutions Daily Protective Base to hide redness, bareMinerals Complexion Rescue Gel Cream to even out my skin and add a glow, and finally, one of my millions of tinted lip balms. Three of my favorite tinted lip balms are L'Occitane Pivoine Sublime Lip Balm in Rose Amber, Soap & Glory Sexy Motherpucker Gloss Crayon in Nudist, and TonyMoly Petite Bunny Gloss Bar.
Sometimes I've even worn a full-coverage foundation and long-wear liquid lipstick, not because I care about looking glam at the gym but because my life is crazy.
I'll admit, this only works for me for one reason: I don't really sweat. I know, it's weird! Sometimes I get kind of clammy and maybe get a bit of wetness around my temples, but overall I don't have to worry about sweating my makeup off. (I DO get disturbingly red-faced though, thanks to my rosacea.)
Still, even if my makeup still looks good after working out, I have to wonder if it's hurting my skin. So lately I'm trying to go to the gym with a clean face whenever I can.
Now let's check out the Comments of the Week!
1. "Kate" shared a great tip in this week's news:
GUYS. Shea Moisture is having a BOGO sale at Walgreens/Duane Reade this weekend. My haul is epic. GET YO LIFE!
2. Congrats to "psychethos," and get started on that minimal nail art! You earned it.
I'm just excited that I can finally do these partially "nude" nail art styles, because I quit smoking a few months ago and the yellow has grown out of my nails. Woo!
3. "DontCallMeSweetheart" is basically me when it comes to spray-on foundation:
I got Sally's spray on legs once and missed my legs completely and stained my ex-boyfriends wall orange so I don't think I have the skills to apply these to my face :/
4. We all want skin as amazing as Sable's and "dameagatha" has a tip for helping us get it:
Hot rosehip oil tip: I use a ton of it, can't live without it, and once I went through my first 1.5 oz., $44 Trilogy bottle I did some research and ended up purchasing a 4 oz. bottle from Mountain Rose Herbs for $15.75 (yep). MRH is a great site known for quality so the next time you need to re-up on rosehip, do yourself a favor and buy some along with bulk spices and teas and shea butter and spend all of your money in fifteen minutes just like I do. Also, I just ordered some snail cream. ALSO your skin is BONKERS good.
5. "Mrs.Malarkey" (and basically everyone else in the comments) reminded me to take my much-needed vitamin D:
I can not go to my lady doctor without a lecture about vitamin D. Ladies, please take vitamin D so he can sleep at night.
OK, let's discuss!
- Do you wear makeup to the gym or no? Why?
- And if you do, how much makeup do you usually wear?
- Semi-related: does anyone else do kettle bells? I usually only do yoga and running but lately I'm obsessed with how kettle bells kicks my ass!
