Recently, I’ve been playing around with achieving a more glowy or dewy foundation look without looking (or feeling) like a greasy mess. I started out by pairing a luminous primer with my foundation and also tried working with lightweight tinted moisturizers to see what kind of results they would give me.
I’ve also been trying a few different luminous or natural-finish foundations to see if they would help me achieve the look I want or if they would look over-the-top shiny. I had a couple of bad run-ins, but I managed to find three foundations that I think give me a really healthy-looking glow.
This foundation is very light but can definitely be layered up to a medium finish. What I like most about it is that the finish really looks like it could be my skin, and it doesn’t give me an overly perfected look. When I wear it, I get compliments on my skin rather than my makeup, which I love.
As far as staying power, it actually holds up pretty decently. I usually have to blot a couple of times throughout the day, but overall, it stays pretty well for being such light coverage.
When it comes time to wash it off at the end of the day, there’s only a little bit of fading on the underside of my nose and where my glasses sit on my face.
The concept behind Born This Way is to fuse skincare with makeup, and this does a really nice job with exactly that. This foundation contains hyaluronic acid, which aids in creating a hydrated and plumper feel and appearance to the skin.
Initially, I was worried about being too dewy with this, but I found a little extra powder through the T-zone took care of that and helped with the overall wear. A little goes a long way with this foundation, and it gives a medium to full coverage.
This is another one I had to blot a couple of times throughout the day, but my skin always feels super-soft at the end of the day when I wear this.
I used to watch Jaclyn Hill a lot on YouTube, and she'd rave about this foundation. I always thought my skin would be too oily to try it, but then I saw some other oily-skinned YouTube vloggers also mention liking it as well.
I decided to finally try it for myself a few months ago, and I absolutely love it. It definitely gives a very radiant finish to the face but isn’t very heavy coverage, so I don’t think it looks overdone. Some of the other luminous foundations I tried skewed more shimmery, so I appreciated the subtlety of this.
As far as wear goes, I thought this stayed put pretty well with just a little bit of fading here and there through the T-zone. Since this one is on the pricier side, I usually reserve it for Look of the Week posts, special occasions, and on days when I just want to feel fancy.
