I've found the best options for every budget and skin tone.

Concealer is something that I rarely ever go without, even if I’m not wearing any other base makeup. I’ve tried quite a few different brands in an attempt to find which ones hold up best on oily skin.

These six concealers have been the hands-down best I’ve ever tried.

Kevyn Aucoin The Sensual Skin Enhancer

I’ve heard many people rave about this, so I decided to give it a shot myself.

I was not disappointed.

At first, I was put off by the price tag, but when I got it, I realized that it takes almost nothing to get great coverage with this. I can seriously take a tiny dot of this and cover both under eyes and hit a couple of my problem spots (scars from where I picked at my face, redness around the nose, etc.).

I'm wearing shade SX10. It's a touch light for where my skin is at right now (I've been outside a bit recently).

More than that, this stuff is budge-proof! I can’t handle under-eye creasing, and I’m glad to report this stuff does not settle into my lines. It is very full-coverage and on the thicker side, so it’s definitely one you need to blend immediately before it sets.

Make Up For Ever Full Cover Extreme Camouflage Cream

My shade is Golden Beige 10.

High Queen Alle mentioned this concealer a while back, and I would honestly buy air if Alle told me to. This concealer means business! It’s very full-coverage and very thick, so like the Kevyn Aucoin, there is not a lot of play time before it sets.

Oh, but when it sets, it isn’t going anywhere. I’ve worn this in the rain, through particularly emotional episodes of Grey’s Anatomy (which is pretty much every episode ever, am I right?), and it does not come off without some kind of remover involved.

This is another product that I can use very little of to get the coverage I need, and I love that I can make it last a long time.

NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer

Shade: Biscuit (I use Ginger if I really want to brighten the under-eye area, and Caramel in the summer).

I avoided using this one for a while because I had only seen it raved about by folks with normal to dry skin. I finally picked up my first one last year and I LOVE it.

True to its name, this concealer is very creamy, which makes it super-easy to blend. It does, however, provide a decent coverage without being too heavy, and stays put all day. I reach for this one especially if I’m going to skip foundation or if I’m going for a more natural look because I think it looks really fresh.

MAC Pro Longwear Concealer

NC 42

NC 42

This concealer has been my ride-or-die since 2009 because it doesn’t crease under my eyes and I can use less than a pea-sized amount to cover everything that needs covering.

Texturally, this one is in between the NARS and the MUFE, so it’s creamy but still very full-coverage. You do have a tiny bit of play time with this before it sets, so it’s definitely easy to work with in that respect.

Black Opal Flawless Perfecting Concealer

Shade: Honey

Shade: Honey

One thing I noticed about trying to find concealer at a drugstore price point is that there are very few options to accommodate women of color that have the quality that I’m looking for. It’s for this reason that I truly appreciate this brand, as well as the next.

This concealer comes in five different shades and caters specifically to women of color. The lightest color in the range is almost a perfect match for me when I start to take on my spring/summer skin tone, and it has four more shades for deeper skin tones.

I’m usually a little wary of concealers in this format because they're usually are too creamy and don’t stay put. This concealer, however, definitely stays put, and while it is creamy and very bendable, I don’t have issues with it sliding around my face. I’ve said before that I think Black Opal is an underrated drugstore brand and I think that this concealer really proves that.

L.A. Girl HD Pro Conceal

Shade: Medium Beige (I also use Warm Honey in warmer months).

L.A. Girl has one of largest shade ranges for concealer that I’ve seen not just on a drugstore level, but just in general. The HD Pro Conceal has pretty much every shade you could need from porcelain to a rich deep mahogany.

In addition to having a great selection of shades, the formula is just really great. The consistency is much like the NARS concealer, and it stays in place very well with very minimal creasing.
