A surprisingly wearable alternative to typical fall makeup shades.

I know not everyone experiences seasonal weather changes, but the weather here in Kansas is already starting to cool a bit, and it’s getting me excited for fall.

I’m someone who likes to change my makeup depending on the seasons, but instead of the traditional fall hues, I thought a cool gray-toned look would be fun to try.

I kept the eyes simple yet slightly smoky because I wanted the lips to be the real standout.

I used the LORAC Pro 2 Palette in the shades Cool Gray, Charcoal, Lt Brown, and Beige as well as the LORAC Front of the Line Pro Liquid Liner Pen in Charcoal.

After applying eyelid primer, I applied a matte, cool gray shadow all over the lid and a matte charcoal gray in the crease. I blended everything out with a soft, light tan shade on a fluffy blending brush and added a light beige shade to the brow bone to highlight.

To finish the eye, I used a charcoal liquid liner to do a small wing, added a couple of coats of mascara, and filled in my brows.

I didn’t want my lips to be just a straight gray shade, so I started by lining my lips and filling them in lightly with a brown lip pencil.

Then, I mixed my own gray lip color up using MAC Lipmix in Black and White and applied that over my lips as well.

You can use a lip brush if you want to be more precise, but I think it blends better with a finger.

This look was surprisingly more wearable than I thought it would be and I’ve been wanting to try a gray lip since Morgan wrote about it a while back!

Here are my favorite looks from last week:
