One sees all kinds of amazing things, good and bad, when riding the subway on the regular. As awed/annoyed as I am by the dancers, I’m more impressed by the women I see who do their makeup on their commute. Bumps, light outages, sudden jerks, actual human jerks--they are not distracted by any of it. They simply pull out their makeup bag and get to work.
I’m not talking about light touch-ups, with lipgloss or powder. I’m talking about applying liquid foundation, contouring, waterline-lining, eyelash curling--things you really don’t want to be doing on a non-stable surface. The most amazing thing I saw once was a woman painting a cat eye, with liquid eyeliner. And it was PERFECT. There’s gotta be some kind of award for that, right?
Me, I do my makeup at home and touch up minimally during the day. And what I keep in my makeup bag is primarily in the lip or the concealer family--although I do rotate the lip products daily. (A lady likes options, you know?)
