Seriously, just look at these gorgeous ladies! My heart swells with pride.

This was an especially exciting week for me because I got to meet, face-to-face, some of our New York City-area contributors: Danielle, Tiye, Kelly, Sable, and Simonetta (who JUST moved here from the Lone Star state and we are the luckier for it).

We all kind of looked at each other like, “Ooohhhh…you’re REALLY REAL.” And it wasn’t weird or awkward or any of those feelings you might feel when you’re meeting someone you mostly know online or over the phone or via real letters, like the pen pals I had when I was a kid.

In short, we had a lovely meeting about beauty, natch, and the amazing stories we want to write for you. I felt immediately drawn to these smart, talented women, and I’m proud to be working with all of my sisters in beauty out there--and working for you, of course. I’m awash in warm fuzzies, which is a great way to coast into the weekend.

Speaking of! What kind of beauty business are you handling over the next few days? Me, I’m going to get my roots did (halleloo!). I’ve been seeing Kim Ruszczyk at Frédéric Fekkai in Soho for something like five years now.

Kim is one of those amazing colorists who knows what I want before I know I want it. She’s also great with a pop culture reference; my blonde has gone from Mrs. Robinson, to Debbie Harry, to Beyoncé under Kim’s keen eye. I’m excited to see where this visit will take us.

So: Your weekend beauty plans? Tell us all about ‘em, and whatever else you want to tell us, in the comments.
