Like many of you, I use makeup brushes daily. I use my favourite dual-fiber brush from MAC to apply my foundation, a nice big fluffy brush to dust finishing powder all over my face, and a cute little angled brush to fill in my brows.
But applying makeup with these day in and day out can get pretty gross, and I’m going to be honest with you: I don’t have the time or memory to hand-wash my brushes every single night like I should.
When my face started breaking out, I knew something needed to change. I still wash all my brushes more thoroughly with shampoo once a week, but incorporating a daily brush cleanser into my routine has totally changed my life (and my skin) for the better.
There are quite a few instant cleansing sprays on the market, but I have two favorites in particular.
This was the first daily cleanser I ever used, and I loved it! It uses natural extracts like sandalwood to condition and protect the bristles of both natural and synthetic brushes, while other ingredients cleanse and prevent stickiness.
I’d opt for the larger bottle if you’re picking it up. It’s such a steal for the price, for dix ounces you’ll never have to worry about having dirty brushes ever again!
A little more expensive than the Sephora Collection cleanser, this option is alcohol-free and works like a charm. I have the enormous bottle, and I always make sure to toss it in my overnight bag whenever I’m not planning on making it home that night. It’s a lot easier than having to worry about where I’m going to clean my brushes if I end up staying somewhere else for a few days.
It’s also a perfect to jump from one product to the next with the same brush. Not all of us have the cash for a million brushes, amirite? So a spray or two of this between products can help avoid contamination between products (be it bacteria or colour transfer).
See? Instant brush cleansers are the ideal product for busy beauty lovers. I can’t imagine my life without having a bottle on hand anymore. I mean, spritz a bit of this on a paper towel, twirl your dirty brush around, and in seconds it’ll be clean. How much easier/quicker/more awesome can that get? A few seconds every day and you’ll have less breakouts, too.
Who the hell can complain about that? NOT THIS GIRL.
