I wanted to do this ever since I saw "Mad Max: Fury Road."

Despite shaving my head after seeing Charlize Theron kick ass in Mad Max: Fury Road, I wasn't sure if I would go as her for Halloween. That was back in May, and I thought my buzz cut might be grown out by the time Halloween arrived.

Well, not only is it grown out, but it's blonde now. The good news, however, is that I took advantage of my last day as a brunette to do an Imperator Furiosa tutorial. Honestly, it's so simple that it doesn't really require a tutorial, but I couldn't pass up the chance to smear black eyeshadow all over my face.

So without any further ado, here's how to get the Furiosa look this Halloween.

You'll need:

  • Black eyeliner
  • Black eyeshadow
  • Any kind of oil

Obviously, you'll also need a shaved head, or at least a very short pixie cut. (I would have shaved my hair shorter if I hadn't been in the process of growing it out.)

First, you'll want to start off with a clean, blank base. To do this, I applied my favorite medium-full coverage foundation, Japonesque Color Luminous Foundation in shade 02, to hide any redness or spots.

Not particularly intimidating so far.

Next, it's time to get started on the eyes. Taking your favorite eyeliner, whether it's a pen or a gel eyeliner or just black eyeshadow, draw a thick black line all around your eyes. Be sure to get it in your waterline too (yes, it's uncomfortable, but you don't see Furiosa crying about it).

I used Stila Smudge Stick Waterproof Eye Liner because it's big enough to make a thick line but also easy to use in my waterline. Plus, it has great staying power.

Don't worry about making it look perfect; messiness is more than OK.

After that, take a big ol' brush and any kind of matte black eyeshadow (I just used a black shade from an old Wet 'n' Wild palette), and blend that generously all over your forehead, going slightly onto your temples and brow bone as well. Make sure your eyelids are covered, too.

After that, I decided I wanted a little bit more black on my forehead, and I wanted it to look greasier too, like the engine oil that she smears on herself. So I just went ahead and wiped argan oil on top of a second layer of black eyeshadow with my hands. Feel free to get really messy (just be sure to wash your hands afterwards).

And that's it! You'll also want to add an appropriate costume, such as a dirty t-shirt, a black scarf, and a belt.

"Out here, everything hurts..."

Don't forget to practice your most threatening glares in the mirror before heading out.

"...Now run!"

"...Now run!"

I strongly suggest getting a group of friends to join you. Your friends who are into doing gross, detailed Halloween makeup will love transforming into War Boys, anyone who wants to show some skin can be one of the runaway slaves (not that I'm advocating a "slutty sex slave" Halloween costume but... you know what I mean), and your lazy friend can go as Max. Everyone has that lazy friend.

You, of course, will be the most badass person in the group. Especially if you shave your head right before going out.

  • What do you think: do I make a good Furiosa?
  • Is anyone going as Furiosa (or any other Mad Max character) this Halloween?
