Getting up in the morning can be such a drag! Seriously, I am one of the worst morning people out there. I'm so moody and grumpy that I actually feel bad for the people around me.
I wish I could be one of those people who rises super chipper with the sun, but I'm just not. In order to get up and get out of the house quickly and efficiently, while still looking good, I get some of my morning stuff done at bedtime.
Here's what I do...
1. Check The Forecast
Watch the news or go online to check out the weather forecast. You can mentally prepare yourself for crummy weather and plan your outfit at the same time. Also, you can make sure and put that umbrella in your bag so you don't forget it in the morning.
2. Sleep In Foam Rollers
This makes for super fast styling. I wake up, take my rollers out, give my hair a brush, and I'm left with beautiful curls that hold all day. If foam rollers are uncomfortable for you to sleep in, another option is to braid your hair at night and undo the braids in the morning. Instead of curls you'll have nice waves.
3. Separate Everyday Use Makeup
Have a makeup bag of must-have items prepared at all times. For me, this includes Olay Face Moisturizer, Maybelline Falsies Mascara, Wet n Wild's Brow Kit, Lancome Tinted Lip Balm, Victoria's Secret Bronzer, and some brushes. Having the products you're going to use together in one place will help you get ready A LOT quicker. Also, you can throw the bag in your purse for touch-ups.
4. Lay Out Your Outfit
This is a no-brainer, but how often do you actually do it? Set a nighttime alarm on your phone to remind you to plan your outfit for the next day. Outfit, shoes, and accessories should be ready and waiting so you can throw them on and get out the door.
5. Simplify Your Breakfast
I need coffee to function, which is why I always use the automatic timer on my coffee machine. There's nothing like rising to the smell of fresh coffee. And even when you're pressed for time you can eat a bowl of instant oatmeal for a quick breakfast. It takes minutes to make and it’s high in fiber.
Easy enough, right? Here are a few more tips and tricks for a better morning.
- Use mint face wash. The scent is refreshing and will help you wake up.
- Don’t get distracted by checking emails. Save it for the office!
- If you like smoothies, plop the ingredients in the blender and stick the whole thing in the fridge the night before.
- No time to iron? Try a wrinkle releasing spray.
Are you a morning person? What shortcuts do you take to make the get up and go part of your day run smoothly?
