Who says you can't do a smoky eye with a red lip?

I am all about taking beauty cues from beautiful ladies, and Daisy Lowe is no exception. I mean, have you seen her Free People campaign video? Tall, sexy, cute, edgy, approachable, gorgeous--all at the same time. How do you do that, Daisy? Show me your ways.

Well, I may be half of Daisy's height (thanks, mom), but we both have dark hair and roundish features, so that's a start. But while hers culminate together into a glorious supermodel/it-girl kind of way, mine need a little help. Makeup to the rescue!

With this image in mind, I tried to create Daisy's all done up yet all done down look. Who says you can't do a smoky eye with a red lip?

Sadly, we aren't allowed to Photoshop our faces because we're real women or something. Apologies, left under eye circle.

FACE

Daisy's literally got doll-like skin, so I opted for some Make Up For Ever HD Foundation mixed in with moisturizer to sheer it out a bit. I blended it all in with my fingers because I can never find my brushes anyway.

If you're like me and have to deal with eye bags from hell, lashings of concealer is also appropriate for this (and any) look.

EYES

First, I applied Buck from the Urban Decay Naked Palette on the lid up to the crease. You don't have to be neat with this since we're going for the "I just woke up 10 minutes ago, smeared eyeshadow all over my eyelids and still look great" vibe. Or I could also be covering for my poor shadow application skills.

Excuse the brows. You don't need an arch when you have clip-in bangs!

Next, I used Dark Horse on the outside corners of the lid.

I layered Gunmetal on top of Dark Horse, and swept it gently into the crease. Why does this sound like erotic fiction?

Image Title7

I lined my upper lashes using the MAC Powerpoint pencil in Engraved (any black will do), and packed Creep on top of the liner with an angled brush. I also smudged my lower lash line with Buck and used Dark Horse around the outer edges.

I coated my lashes with some free mascara I got in a magazine because my usual favourite by Eyeko ran out. (Their skinny brush mascara is everything. Doesn't budge, doesn't flake and lengthens your lashes like crazy).

Finish with Virgin on the inner corners.

LIPS

First, I applied the greatest red lipstick ever, Dolce & Gabbana Classic Cream Lipstick in Iconic, then lined my lips using a black eyeliner. Blend with a lip brush for that haute couture goth girl look. Gradient lips with attitude. My lips are so dry they're bleeding but I don't care because it's leaving behind a sexy stain. Etc, etc, etc.

If you want to go that extra mile, you can also blend it in with a dark red/berry toned lipstick. (I like Mac's Good To Be Bad.)

This may look like a big ol' mess now, but keep blending until you get something that looks like this:

But maybe a little less vacant, your call.

CHEEKS

I kept the cheeks pretty simple. You know Buck from your Naked Palette? Get it out again and sweep it gently under your cheek bones to fake even higher cheek bones. Fake it 'til you make it, girl.

This works for my skin tone, but you'll want to find something that can mimic the natural shadows of your face in the shade. Make sure it's matte.

HAIR

I don't have any bangs cut in at the moment, but if you're taking this seriously, you're gonna need them. Clip 'em in, spray with a little dry shampoo so they aren't as shiny, and presto. Unless your hair is as shiny, miraculous and forever tangle-free as the fake bangs, then you can skip the dry shampoo, and also, I hate you.

Mine are from Hershesons, but you can get them off eBay for way cheap.

Everything you need to be Daisy, including a fake fringe if you don't have your own. Pin it on your baby for a look she'll never forget.

So, burning questions: who's your favourite It Girl? Are you a strong lip or strong eye but never both kinda person? Is this look overkill or totally on the ball?
