In case you didn't know, in addition to being xoBFFs, Zoe and I are BFF IRL, too. So naturally we're dressing as Cher and Dionne from Clueless this Halloween.

Grab your bestie and follow our step-by-step guide. You'll be looking like a total Betty in no time.

"Anything you can do to draw attention to your mouth is good."

Cher is everything. As a kid, I turned to Cher's Guide to…Whatever for all of my life advice. I like to think that it shaped me into the well-adjusted adult I am today. Here's some of the Cher Horowitz's best beauty wisdom.

First, it's time to bust out the hair straightener. Cher's hair is poker-straight with lots of volume--a winning combination. I'm not going to worry about the volume part because I'm going with a beret, mainly because Cher wouldn't dare leave the house with my kind of roots.

My morning hair and face, aka Cher's polar opposite, and nothing like a Noxzema commercial.

Cher's nose is a lot narrower than mine, so after applying IOPE Air Cushion XP sunblock and concealer on my face, I contoured down the sides of my nose using Urban Decay's Eye Shadow in Buck and Wayne Goss' #14 Brush. I also applied Buck lightly around my temples and jaw line.

"College girls wear less makeup on their face, and that's why guys like them more."

For the eyes, I traced around my upper and lower lash line with a grey-brown liner and smudged very slightly. I used Clinique's Cream Shaper For Eyes in Sable (which is discontinued, but Quickliner For Eyes in Smoky Brown is similar).

Top and lower lash line lightly smudged with grey-ish brown pencil.

I then applied a small amount of Inglot Secret Volume Mascara to the top and lower lashes. Love this mascara, as it doesn't smudge.

With an angled brush, I filled in my brows using a mixture of Urban Decay's Faint and Crave found in the Naked Basics Palette.

Thinking about my lost white collarless shirt from Fred Segal.

For lips, I used Charlotte Tilbury's Lip Cheat in Pink Venus, followed by Wet N Wild Megaslicks Balm Stain in Rico Mauve, which is the perfect mix of balm and color. Cher's lips are the tiniest bit overdrawn, so I followed suit. To finish off, I applied Kevyn Aucoin's Pure Powder Glow in Dolline on my cheeks. The prettiest peachy pink!

For the outfit, I went to town at Value Village and grabbed an oversize, V-neck, long tartan dress and worked my DIY magic. Paired with a white button down and beret, it's the perfect studious Cher.

And the results? You have to wait for Dionne, duh.

"I do not wear polyester hair, OK? Unlike some people I know, like Shawana."

Dionne is everything to me, of course. I never understood her jokes as a kid--the movie came out when I was five--but in my preteens I was hypnotized by her sass and charisma, even if the PC term “hymenally challenged” went over my head.

So, like duh, there's no way I could go another Halloween without dressing up like D. Which by the way, since I wanted to avoid spending nine hours to braid my own hair, I searched the city for a wig (not polyester like Shawana, of course). But just ended up with this nonsense instead. Apparently ordering online is the way to go for such a query.

concealer applied undereye

Unlike Stacey Dash, I do not have a painting locked away in the attic (she has not aged a day since Clueless), so it would take more than a prayer to acquire her flawless complexion. I started by smoothing Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer on and then applied YSL Touché Éclat to my under-eye circles. And since both needed a few minutes to absorb, I moved on to eyebrows.

groomed eyebrows

Another reason to love Dionne was the fact that she never did succumb to the skinny, highly arched eyebrows of the '90s. So to obtain her straight-across brows, I combed my bushy tails downward. Then, using Tarte Amazonian Clay Waterproof Brow Mousse, I lined the edges from one end to the other and filled in any sparse areas. I then finished off by swiping concealer below and above each brow.

applying blush to face

After applying foundation to my cheeks, forehead and nose, I used Sephora MicroSmooth Baked Bronzer Duo in Honey Heat along my hairline, jawline and below cheekbones. To get the infamous Beverly Hills glow, I swept Bourjois Paris Blush in Santal, a reddish brown, along the apples of my cheeks.

Since D is all about the pinks, I used Verve, a shimmery oyster, from the Urban Decay Naked2 Palette on my brow bone and Chopper, a glittery peach-gold, as a base. Then I blended in the crease with a vibrant pink from the Sephora Makeup Academy Palette and tightlined my upper lid and added mascara.

red lipstick

Check it. Dionne would never show up to a class, party, or wedding without her cherry lipstick in check. So I applied Lise Watier Lip Crayon in Rouge and blotted a deep berry gloss from the Sephora palette in the center of lips.
