I can run my fingers through my hair. Sadly, that wasn’t the case for most of my platinum blonde life.
I learned the following technique while getting my hair cut by the lovely Carla at Blyss salon about a year ago, and in the year since, my hair has become far softer and healthier than ever before. I swear to you, I do this every damn time I wet my hair, and it has completely transformed it for the better.
And it’s all thanks to a cheap little Ikea towel!
The HÄREN washcloth from Ikea comes in a four-pack, and I suggest stocking up because these guys are the most useful thing you can own.
Keep one within reach—and dry—while showering. Once you’ve shampooed your hair, scrunch out as much moisture as possible with this towel, and apply your favourite hair mask. (Mine is Davines Nounou Pak; it’s what I’ve been using the entire time so I trust it).
Scrunching—not rubbing—the excess water out of your hair before applying the mask allows the mask to penetrate your hair more deeply than if you were to just apply it to wet hair. Leave the mask on for at least 10 minutes, and rinse.
I’m telling you right now, all the credit for my hair improving SO dramatically over the past year goes right to this. Doing a hair mask every time I wash my hair and scrunching out the water with the HÄREN washcloth before applying it changed how soft my hair was almost immediately. Less tangles, more shine, stronger hair. It all comes down to such a simple, cheap technique.
After I’ve scrunched the water out of my hair and once I’ve rinsed the mask and stepped out of the shower, I apply Davines Minu Hair Serum all over and Phyto’s Phytolisse Ultra-Glossing Finishing Serum to my ends. You can use whatever serum you have on hand, and I bet you’ll notice an improvement in your hair’s texture pretty quick!
