Better question: Why doesn't EVERYONE?

Washing your hair every day is very '80s, no? I think that may be the last decade when the majority of women shampooed their hair every time they showered. Today, it seems many, if not most, of us don't wet our heads every time we wet our bodies, either to maintain a blowout or because frequent washing dries our hair out.

But what do we do on those days we're washing just our skin?

If you're like me and you happen have a weird shower stall with not only a shower head but also a faucet one foot from the floor, you sometimes just sit on the shower floor and take a weird, shameful faux-bath. I just put my hair in a bun to keep it off of my shoulders and face and not worry about water hitting it from above.

But when I'm erring on the side of normal, I'll take a regular shower and throw on a shower cap.

I always feel super-goofy wearing one. I mean, Beyonce looks hot in a shower cap, but I'm not Beyonce.

I also don't have Ellen Von Unwerth following me into my bathroom.

But as dopily retro as it looks on everyone other than Beyonce, they're still around because they continue to serve a very useful purpose.

You get can them super-cheap (literally one cent on Amazon), or you can upgrade to a more serious model like, like The Perfect Shower Cap by blowpro.

First of all, it's gigantic, so even if you're Mrs. Met, you're totally covered. Plus, it's lined with terry cloth, so it's comfortable and provides and extra layer of protection against the DREADED WATER.

I don't think it's going to bring back the shower-caps-as-accessory trend, which Wikipedia says was a thing, but I can't think of a good reason NOT to use it if you're not washing your hair every day and don't want to take any chances.
