Because we all need to put more stuff from the dollar store in our hair.

When Peter Pan is trying to teach Wendy and her brothers to fly, he almost forgets the most important part: the pixie dust.

This need for pixie dust really resonated with me (as it obviously did with the fashion world this season, too), and these days, I almost never leave home without at least a sprinkle of sparkle. As much as I hate to admit it, though, I'm not actually a fairy (I know, it's a shock), so I've been forced to get a little creative with my dusting methods.

Luckily, pixie dust hair requires only two "ingredients" to look dazzling every time: glitter and hairspray.

STEP 1

Sprinkle glitter on your head.

Use as much or as little as you like; whatever shapes or sizes you prefer. I got my big white glitter from the dollar store and my little stars were brought back by a friend from a trip to China.

If you can find the glitter with the “salt shaker” style lid, it’s easier to sprinkle, though you will probably get glitter all over your clothing, room, and pets. That's OK, right?

Observe, the mythical salt shaker lid (you could also just put the glitter into a salt shaker).

Spray the crap out of your hair with high-hold hairspray.

STEP 3

Do a little magical fairy dance.

That's seriously it. And it looks great on non-pink hair, too!
