The bob is probably one of my favourite haircuts. Our own Alle rocks a mean one herself.
I was 14 when I first took the big chop (without parental influence) and decided on a Posh Spice number that gave me a soft spot for bobs forever. Most recently, Kiko Mizuhara took me to the dark side again, and last summer, I chopped my boob-length hair off and went for gold.
Unfortunately, every time I reach for the scissors, I mourn the loss of every inch. Even now, as I look at my overgrown bangs, I feel a sense of deep emotional turmoil and anguish. "Why did you cut me?" their split-ended mouths seem to say in disdain.
Anyway, thankfully it's hat season, which lends itself well to faux-bobbing. I know all the faux bob tricks, with the pinning and the pony tail tucking. And while my girl Hannah's faux bob tutorial is everything and more, I wanted a no-fuss option for hair-challenged folk like myself.
Here is what I came up with.
This works best for medium long, relatively thick hair.
Here is normal me with long, annoying bangs that I try to camouflage everyday.
First, tie your hair up into a high ponytail.
Next, curl all the ends of your hair in with a straightening iron.
Put on a toque, you're done! Make sure to fan all the hair out around to make the bob as full as you can.
I'm wearing the tiniest amount of OCC's Black Metal Dahlia on my lips.
You can also add in some extensions to make it look thicker, or tease the underneath sections to give it more fullness. I just left it for ease and because I am lazy. It's not as nice as a real bob, of course, but it'll do.
Have you tried the faux bob? Should I cut my hair again? Don't say yes, because it'll just confuse me.
