I decided there had to be another way to scent my new home without basically burning the place down every night.

I recently decided to uproot my entire life and make some massive changes. Within the same month, I found a new apartment, signed a new lease and booked a moving truck, and quit my full-time job to pursue writing full-time.

This combination of events made me realize a few things:

  • I really, really needed these big changes.
  • Change is hard, no matter how much it’s needed.
  • Between the office and my apartment, I have a stupid number of candles.

Yes, I am stating it here in writing, officially: I have a grotesque addiction to candles.

It’s so bad that when I took art off of my walls at the old apartment, there were smoke marks all around where each frame had been, and I filled an entire, massive box solely with candles to transport them... only to find more.

Settling into the new place, I decided there had to be another way to scent my abode, without basically burning the place down every night.

When I first heard about Saje nebulizers, I was more than a little skeptical. Why would I need a little machine to blow scented smoke around when I could just light an overpriced candle in every room? I couldn’t imagine finding something that could replace my love of scented candles, but when I read about the “AromaGem” and its alleged magical healing powers (hem, and saw the sparkly, gem-like design) I was sold.

With this magical machine, my favourite scents from the Best of Saje diffuser blend collection are carried all over the house on small mists of water vapour.

But its properties go further than just giving me that "new home smell"—the vapour acts as an air purifier and humidifier with no heat or actual steam, so my pets, plants, etc. are safe from harm.

It’s sort of like having my own personal aromatherapist in-house, and the essential oils are interchangeable based on my mood. Whisper quiet, the AromaGem lives on my bedside table blasting out its power-packed healing vapour puffs around the clock.

In short, my new space has been officially transformed into an aromatherapy oasis—without the thick layer of smoke and burning pet hair.

  • What's your favourite way to add scent to your home?
  • Have you gone through more candles than you'd care to admit?
